Who we are:
BiochemExpert is a free study tool for biochemistry students, built and run by an individual student developer. "We" means BiochemExpert; "you" means anyone who uses the website.
What we collect:
Account details (when you sign in with Google or email we receive your name and email address; we never see your Google password). Content you create (notes, scanned images, uploaded assignments, lecture recordings and transcripts, and anything you type into features). Usage information (we count your daily uses of AI features to apply fair-use limits, and may keep basic technical logs such as error messages). We do not ask for your phone number, location or payment details.
How we use it:
To let you sign in and keep saved notes and recordings; to generate summaries, answers, transcripts and other study help you request; to apply usage limits and keep the service running; to fix bugs and improve the app; and to reply when you contact us. We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.
AI features:
When you use an AI feature, the text or image you submit is sent to a third-party AI service to produce a response. Please don't submit anything you wouldn't want processed this way, such as other people's private information. AI responses can contain errors.
Who else handles your data:
Lovable (hosting, database and storage), Google (if you sign in with Google), AI service providers (they process content you submit to AI features), and YouTube (when you play embedded lessons, under its own privacy policy). We only share what is needed for these services to work.
Lecture recordings:
Only record lectures when your lecturer or institution allows it. Recordings and transcripts you save are stored in your account and are private to you until you delete them.
Cookies and local storage:
We use essential cookies or browser storage to keep you signed in and remember settings. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep data:
Until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Backups may keep copies for a short time afterwards.
Your rights:
You can delete notes, recordings and transcripts in the app, and email us to request access, correction or deletion of your account and content. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights, and we will respect them.
Security:
We use reputable hosting and sign-in services and take reasonable steps to protect your data; no online service is completely secure.
Age:
This app is meant for university students and learners aged 16 and over. If a younger child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes:
We will update the date at the top; continued use means you accept the updated policy.
Google sign-in:
If you sign in with google, we recieved only your name, email address and profile picture; we use them only to create and identify your account; we do not sell them, use them for advertising, or share them except with the service providers needed to run the app. Our use of information recieved from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited User requirements.
